Chemical Genetics:
Applying Chemical Genetic Interactions to Guide Follow-up Characterization of Novel Compounds in Yeast
People
Justin Lo Choy
In principle, bioactive xenobiotics can mimic genetic interactions by inhibiting the function of a gene product which is analogous to knockouts or hypomorphic alleles. Leveraging our expertise in genetic interactions, our lab has previously done whole genome chemical genetic interaction screening based on this paradigm. This project primarily focuses on doing follow-up experiments on chemicals with interesting interaction profiles to explore new biology and characterize compounds with therapeutic potential.
